ISLE OF ARRAN

Ferry Company, Caledonian Macbrayne Ltd has chosen Stornoway as a lay up port for their reserve vessel "Isle of Arran" which is 3296 gross tons in size.

The vessel arrived at Stornoway on Thursday after dry docking in Aberdeen and will lie at the Port's Esplanade Quay until mid April when it is expected she will relieve the freight Ferry Muirneag when it goes to dry dock for its annual overhaul.

The Isle of Arran in addition to providing relief back up to the Cal Mac fleet is also used on the Oban and Inner Hebrides routes during the summer months.

Commenting Chief Executive John Maclennan said "The Authority is pleased that Cal Mac chose to use Stornoway for this purpose and we very much welcome this type of business at the Harbour"
