Essential Works Contracts Awarded PDF Print E-mail
At its meeting on 3rd March 2011 the Board of Stornoway Port Authority awarded contracts for works in excess of £100,000 with a substantial proportion of the work going to local businesses. The works include: re-surfacing Goat Island causeway and Ferry Terminal areas; changing out the second cylinder on the No. 3 Linkspan; load testing the No. 3 Linkspan; replacing the modular building at the Ferry Terminal Car Park; reviewing and refreshing IT systems; and the provision of specialist advice in relation to environmental issues.

Commenting on the contracts awarded, Chief Executive of the Port Authority, Jane Maciver, said “these are all contracts for ongoing essential maintenance works or other unavoidable expenditure. It is good to see that, apart from the specialist engineering and environmental works, the contracts have all been taken up by local businesses. Stornoway Port Authority is happy to be doing what we can to help support the local economy in the current financial climate
