Reporting

All vessels should contact Stornoway Harbour Port Control on VHF Channel 12 or by telephone when approaching Arnish Point, advising of their movements and intentions, at which point a berth will be allocated.  This applies to all fishing vessels as well as visiting pleasure craft.

Dangerous Goods

Under the Dangerous Substances in Harbours Regulations, all vessels carrying dangerous goods are required to notify the Harbour Master 24 hours in advance, detailing the Type, Class and volume of such cargo.  Failure to provide such documentation may result in a delay in vessel berthing.

Consolidated European Reporting System

The UK Consolidated European Reporting System requires vessels to report their arrival time, last port and persons on board to the Harbour Office 24 hours prior to arrival.  If the duration of the voyage is less than 24 hours then the information should be provided no later than the time of departure from last port.  This does not apply to vessels under 300 gross tonnes, Naval Vessels, vessels engaged in Government service, small Fishing Vessels or recreational craft having a length of less than 45 metres.

Prior Notification Form

Vessels required to comply with the Merchant Shipping (Vessel Traffic Monitoring and Reporting Requirements) Regulations 2004 and intend to berth alongside Stornoway Harbour are required to complete the Prior Notification Reporting Form and forward it at least 6 hours in advance, to the Port Authority.
