NORWEGIAN NAVAL VISIT

 

There was much activity and bustle around Stornoway Harbour on Wednesday afternoon with the arrival of six Norwegian Navy Vessels in convoy, on route from Norway to Glasgow .

 

The six high speed Motor Torpedo Vessels are 36 metres in length and powered by twin 3600 Bhp engines delivering speeds in excess of 30 knots.  The vessels left Lerwick Harbour on the Wednesday morning and completed the 250 mile journey in eight hours.

 

After taking on Fuel, Fresh Water, and other Supplies at the Esplanade Quay, many of the crew enjoyed a break ashore in the town in the afternoon and evening, before departing for Glasgow at 08:00hrs on the Thursday morning.
