As part of the ongoing commitment to maintain and improve safety standards within the Port Area the Board of Stornoway Port Authority recently decided to engage the services of a specialist company dealing with Occupational Health and Safety Management and Training to carry out an audit of the present procedures and advise the Board with regard to Policy concerning the use of electrical installations and equipment throughout the Harbour Premises.

Tain, Ross-shire based Stuart A. Walker who offers specialist support in Health & Safety issues will be visiting the Harbour in the very near future to carry out an inspection of all of the Harbour Area and Premises and will thereafter advise the Authority with regard to formulating policy in connection with the use of electrical installations and use of electrical appliances within the Harbour Area.
