STORNOWAY INNER HARBOUR REGENERATION

 

Stornoway Port Authority Board at its Friday night meeting approved of a contribution of up to £10k towards a feasibility study with a view to regenerating the Inner Harbour area of the town.

 

The Port Authority is an active participant in the Stornoway Regeneration Group and it is hoped that both Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and Western Isles Enterprise will also contribute towards the study.

 

The project aim is to expand the present pontoon facilities and related services for local users and to attract additional and larger visiting vessels.

 

Commenting, Chief Executive John Maclenann said "The Port Authority is keen to improve the amenity of this area not just for water borne users but for the wider community of the town and island. The Authority is most appreciative of the input from the Stornoway Regeneration Group who share the same vision for the future development of this part of town".
