The 5,000 tonne 'Polar Star' made a short stop at Stornoway Harbour today. The vessel berthed at the harbour's No. 3 Pier on arrival from the South Atlantic , having called at St. Kilda on Monday.

 

The vessel offers fascinating cruises to more remote locations such as the Antarctic, Iceland , Azores , Northern Canada and the Arctic . She can carry up to 700 passengers comprising of ornithologists, scientists and sightseers, all wishing to visit exotic remote locations where they may view the miracles of nature and wildlife at its best.

 

The vessel is the only vessel operated by 'Polar Star Expeditions of Halifax, Canada and with the unique nature of these expeditions, they are always heavily subscribed with some passengers returning every season.

 

The 'Polar Star' departed Stornoway at 1330 Tuesday bound for Lerwick, thence on to Leith .
