INVESTORS IN PEOPLE

SCOTLAND

 

Stornoway Port Authority has been successful in maintaining the principles of the Investors in People National Standard following a recent visit by an assessor.

 

In his letter read out at a recent Board Meeting, the Chairman of Investors in People Scotland said "I recognise the commitment necessary to adhere to the rigorous standard set when Stornoway Port Authority first became an Investor in People. I am sure that the benefits that accrue from the programme of change you have instigated are felt at every level of your organisation, through both individual and corporate development".

 

Stornoway Port Authority is managed by a Board consisting of ten members and employs a staff of 21 persons. The Harbour is continuously manned on a 24 hour basis on every day of the year.

Stornoway Port Authority is a Public Independent Statutory Body holding Trust Port Status and is governed by local and national legislation. The Port Authority is controlled by an independent appointed (and/or elected) board. There are no shareholders or owners, and any surplus is reinvested in the port and facilities for the benefit of all users and stakeholders. There are over 100 ports in the UK holding Trust Port Status. Annual turnover of the authority is approximately £1.3M.
