MORE STEEL FOR ARNISH

The Danish vessel "Barbara" arrived at Stornoway early this morning when she was met by the Port's Pilot Boat "Portrona", and subsequently berthed at the Arnish Pier.

The cargo consisted of over 900 tonnes of steel plate which will be used in the fabrication of 16 Wind Turbine Towers for export to Holland on completion, which is expected to be around the end of June. Also on board were two heavy flanges to be used in connection with an order for a project in the Moray Firth .

Commenting Chief Executive John J Maclennan said "Following the successful load out of the wave power equipment earlier this month, this is further good news not only for Arnish-based Cam Cal Ltd but also for the Port and Island . The Port Authority very much welcomes this activity at the Port".
