PRESS RELEASE

09 JUNE 2007

ENHANCED CCTV SYSTEM FOR HARBOUR

In the interest of improved safety and security, Stornoway Port Authority has decided to extend CCTV coverage onto Cromwell Street Quay.

The benefits of CCTV to the overall operation of the Port are now well proven, albeit some blind spots need to be addressed.  The existing network provided only a limited view of the Inner Harbour, so a proposal for an additional camera was considered, to monitor boat movements and incidents in this location.

As well as the new camera, the Board of the Stornoway Port Authority agreed to further enhance the system

by installing Record and Play back facility in the Harbour Office.
