PRESS RELEASE

09 JUNE 2007

NEW WINDOWS FOR 2/3 SOUTH BEACH

Stornoway Port Authority has approved of a proposal for the replacement of doors and windows in the ground floor of their property at 2 and 3 South Beach Street at a total cost of £29,000.

At a recent meeting, the Board considered a Report from the Harbour Master, outlining the requirement for this work, taking into account the dilapidated state of the existing windows, and putting forward some repair options.

Planning approval had previously been granted by the Comhairle on the understanding that the new windows and doors would closely replicate the design and material of the original, as the building falls within the boundaries of the Townscape Heritage Initiative.
